20 Jan 2008 - Coppicing
This coppicing event held on Sunday 20th January was very well attanded, by regular volunteers, returning volunteers who had been unable to attend recent events & new volunteers. All of whom where very welcome & everybody from young to old worked really well together in groups.
All the volunteers were given a health & saftey talk, plus the new volunteers were given a demonstration on the procedure of coppicing a small tree correctly & safely. All the hazle & sweet chestnut trees in the area which required coppicing were done & a large amount of invasive bramble was removed.
The wood created was either made into stakes for future LACV events or cut up to create wildlife habitat piles. The event was very successful for LACV & hopefully the new volunteers will have learned some new skills & will return on future events.
