17 Feb 2008 - Hedge Laying

Both of the hedgelaying events were well attended this year.  With both events having good weather for the time of year.

Lesnes Abbey Conservation Volunteers runs free hedge laying events every year, anyone interested in learning the traditional art are welcome to attend and learn from trained volunteers. Creating a well maintained attractive wildlife hedge provides an improved wildlife habitat (for native flowers, birds, insects & other wildlife), protects the wood from fly tipping & makes the woodland boundary safer. The hedgerow also provides the local wildlife with food, shelter & a safe corridor for wildlife including birds & bats. There are many different regional hedge laying styles, LACV lays hedges using the 'standard' or Midlands hedge style.
